Working across paper and translucent materials, Katerina Moschou weaves practices and forms that emerge through layering, joining and overlap. Coloured pencil, graphite, photographic and Giclée prints, and hand-printed woodcuts come together as parts of an interconnected process, where one gradually slips into the other.
The series presented in ArtOnPaper Brussels 2026 is rooted in nature and comprises of successive stages of exploration of the physical world, drawing attention to the artist’s focus from one area to the next.
Beginning from the dense, constantly rearranging life of the underland, to the mineral surfaces and reflected light of the rocks of the island of Aegina, and then into gardens and the unseen life of plants. Grafting becomes both a material method and a metaphor: two distinct elements connect and heal as one, while traces of their previous forms remain visible.
Boundaries become permeable, allowing a continuous, rhythmic flow of forms, gestures and materials. Each element is embedded within another, creating works in which transformation is highlighted as an ongoing process.
